While playing the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC you will encounter completely new spells and incantations for the main character. On this page of the guide, we have compiled a list of all new spells - you will learn where you can either find or purchase them.

We tried to avoid topics related to bosses and important plot events. However, you may encounter minor spoilers related, for example, to NPCs from whom you obtain new spells.

The incantation is at the base of a tower in the northern part of the Ancient Ruins of Rauh. You can get there by carefully jumping down or finding the elevator inside the ruins.

Reach the area with enemy flowers. You'll find a corpse with the spell next to one of the flowers.

This incantation is a reward for defeating the Golden Hippopotamus from the first chamber of the Shadow Keep. This fight is described in more detail in the Bosses chapter.

Bayle's Flame Lightning / Bayle's Tyranny

Defeat Bayle in the Jagged Peak Summit location.

Then reach the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion (see the screenshot above) and interact with the altar. You will have to sacrifice Bayle's heart. You can only get 1 of the 2 spells listed.

You can buy this and several other spells from the NPC Count Ymir, who is located in the Cathedral of Manus Metyr. After talking to Ymir, select the Study Sorcery option and pay for a new spell with runes.

You must complete the storyline of the NPC Count Ymir, who is located in the Cathedral of Manus Metyr. We have discussed this in more detail on the Ymir and Jolan page.

After completing all the steps and defeating Ymir, check the cemetery next to the cathedral and a unique spell will appear there.

This incantation is a reward for defeating the optional version of the Dancing Lion boss (not the one from Belurat). The creature in question is in the ruins in the southern part of the Ancient Ruins of Rauh.

Take the elevator to the Ancient Ruins, the Grand Stairway Site of Grace west of the lion's lair. Then go east along the aqueduct to reach the arena with the boss - the path has been marked in the screenshot.

Reach the small pool of water in the western part of the Ancient Ruins of Rauh. At the same time, watch out for at least 1 strong enemy in this area.

Dragonbolt of Florissax

You need to reach the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion - Shadow of the Erdtree: All new spells and incantations - Basics - Elden Ring Guide

You need to reach the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion. You need to advance in the Thiollier's storyline and give the quest item Thiollier's Concoction to the NPC Dragon Communion Priestess.

Defeat Bayle in the Jagged Peak Summit and return to the priestess. You will receive the incantation as reward for revealing the truth. The priestess's storyline is described in more detail in the Quests chapter.

Electrocharge

You must visit the Fig Rift Catacombs- the entrance is south-east of where you found the incantation in the dungeon.

Reach the third spike trap and find a hole on the side to jump down to the lowest level of the catacombs. Examine it to find a corpse with a spell.

Fire Serpent

The incantation can be obtained by climbing to the upper levels of the large Specimen Storehouse in the Shadow Keep.

On one of the upper floors of the warehouse you'll find the Storehouse Back Section. Start there, take the stairs to the upper level and locate the corpse with the spell.

Fleeting Microcosm

You can buy this and several other spells from the NPC Count Ymir, who is located in the Cathedral of Manus Metyr.

You need to advance in Ymir's storyline and visit the Finger Ruins of Dheo. We described it in more detail on the Ymir and Jolan website. Upon returning to Ymir, a new spell (and the most expensive one) will be added to his goods list.

Furious Blade of Ansbach

This incantation is a reward for completing the Sir Ansbach's quests - Shadow of the Erdtree: All new spells and incantations - Basics - Elden Ring Guide

This incantation is a reward for completing the Sir Ansbach's quests. The available storylines are described in a separate Quests chapter.

Ansbach may take part in one of the final battles at Enir-Ilim. Once the fighting's over, you can find his body and take the spell.

Ghostflame Breath

You need to reach the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion.

After interacting with the altar, you can purchase the incantation for 3 Dragon Hearts. They can be obtained by defeating dragons in the nearby Jagged Peak region.

Reach the Ruins of Unte - this is a location adjacent to Shadow Keep - Shadow of the Erdtree: All new spells and incantations - Basics - Elden Ring Guide

Reach the Ruins of Unte - this is a location adjacent to Shadow Keep. You will visit it for the first time after using the secret passage in the fortress - we described it on the page How to get to the lower Scadu Altus?.

Access to the ruins is blocked by an inactive burning golem. You need to produce at least 1 Hefty Furnace Pot and throw it from a higher shelf towards the golem (see the screenshot above).

The spell can be obtained while passing through Castle Ensis.

In the southern part of the castle, look for a place where you can climb onto the surrounding rooftops. This will allow you to jump down to the area with the corpses from the 2. screenshot. Search them to find the spell.

Reach the Moorth Ruins in the Scadu Altus region.

Find the exit to the cave beneath the ruins. While passing through it, you will reach a location with enemies and a large chest shown in 2. screenshot. It contains an incantation.

You need to reach the north-eastern part of the map, which is Scaduview.

Your destination is a large crater where the optional boss Fallingstar Beast is located. The spell is a reward for defeating him.

Go to Scadu Altus. Find the entrance to the cave south of where you found the incantation.

While getting through the cave, you will reach a golden tree shown in the 2. screenshot. You can grab the spell right away and run away or defeat the enemies first.

You can obtain the incantation on your way to the Scadutree Base, where you fight the boss Scadutree Avatar. We discussed this fight in the Bosses chapter.

Stop at the Tree-Worship Sanctum Site of Grace and find a corpse with a spell nearby.

Mantle of Thorns

You must first solve the puzzle related to lowering the water level in the Church District - this is the eastern part of Shadow Keep.

After gaining access to the lower levels of the district, defeat the Ulcerated Tree Spirits. One of the great creatures will leave a spell behind.

Gain access to the Stone Coffin Fissure - the entrance to it is at the southern end of the Cerulean Coast.

While exploring the large underground location, reach the Fissure Waypoint Site of Grace. Next to it, you'll have the possibility to go down to the lower cave. Go there and you will find the spell shown in the 2. screenshot.

You need to gain access to Scaduview, east of Shadow Keep. We discussed it on a separate page: How to open the passage behind the headless statue?.

In the new region, reach the Shaman Village on the hill. Explore the western field in front of the village to locate the incantation.

Gain access to the Stone Coffin Fissure - the entrance to it is at the southern end of the Cerulean Coast.

Defeat the golden enemy (shown in screenshot 2), which you will stumble upon while exploring the large underground location. It will drop an incantation.

Explore the dungeon in the western part of the Ancient Ruins of Rauh.

The incantation is under the stairs that lead to the Church of the Bud.

Rain of Fire

Reach the western walls of West Rampart of the Shadow Keep.

As you go through this location, a Fire Knight dressed in red will spam attack you (see the 2. screenshot). Approach this enemy and defeat him to obtain the incantation he used.

You must first access the secret region Charo's Hidden Grave- you'll learn how to get there on the page How to get to the Charo's Hidden Grave?.

Reach the statue surrounded by birds. If you examine it, you will find a spell - and "wake up" flying monsters at the same time.

Roar of Rugalea

Reach the northwestern part of the world map. This is the area north of the Ancient Ruins of Rauh and northwest of the Ravine North Site of Grace (Scorpion River).

You must defeat Rugalea the Great Red Bear, which will leave behind an incantation.

Spira

You can find the incantation in Enir-Ilim, on the way to the Spiral Rise.

You must wander off the main path and jump onto the branches of a large tree - they will be on the right side. Use them to get to the small ledge shown in the 2. screenshot. Get rid of the praying enemy and take the spell.

Watchful Spirit

This spell is associated with the NPC Hornsent Grandam, who can be found in Belurat.

Defeat the main boss, the Dancing Lion in northern Belurat and you will obtain the unique Divine Beast Head. Put it on before talking to Grandam. You will outsmart Grandam and he will give you, among others, the incantation.
