Crusader Kings III

Crusader Kings III is the third installment in the popular series of complex strategy games, launched in 2004 as the spin-off to the Europa Universalis series. The development and publication of this title were handled by Paradox Interactive, the company responsible for the franchise.

Mechanics

Crusader Kings III takes us on a journey to the Middle Ages. In the game we are leading a dynasty across several generations. The game takes place on a detailed map observed from bird's eye view, covering a vast portion of the world, stretching from Spain, through Scandinavia, to India and Central Africa.

While playing, our primary goal is to expand the sphere of influence of our family. Although declaring war and military victories over other rulers can be an effective tactic, it is often better to use the art of diplomacy and enter beneficial alliances or arrange marriages between our dynasty and others. What's more, nothing prevents us from quietly trying to gain an advantage over our opponents by hiring spies or assassins, and increasing our importance in the kingdom, for example by influencing the religion of our subjects. It is worth remembering that other rulers and other members of our family who can plot behind our backs in order to deprive us of our power have the same opportunities; in order not to fall victim to their intrigues, we must be constantly on our guard.

In addition, we should not forget that the members of our family possess unique personalities and ambitions; each of them has with their own development tree, in which their characteristics and skills are shown. As the effects of our decisions are felt around the world, our in-game hint system helps us make the right choices.

Game modes

Crusader Kings III can be played both solo and in multiplayer mode via the Internet.

Technical aspects

The visuals of Crusader Kings III do not play a particularly important role. It is worth noting, however, that despite its complexity, the user interface is transparent; the same applies to the strategic map on which the action takes place.
