Shadow of the Erdtree: New weapons Elden Ring guide, walkthrough

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree adds eight new weapon categories to Elden Ring. On this page of the guide, we have described the new weapons and explained what they are.

In addition to the new region, dungeons, enemies and bosses, Shadow of the Erdtree also adds eight new weapon categories to Elden Ring. You can obtain these weapons in new areas and take them with you to the Lands Between - although due to how late the expansion areas unlock, you'll probably have to wait until New Game Plus to put them to good use in the base game's content. On this page of the guide, we have listed all new weapon categories and briefly described how they work.

New types of weapons

1. Light Greatswords - very long, but also quite thin swords. They have a range comparable to greatswords, but attack with a series of faster, weaker slashes instead of slow, powerful strikes.
2. Reverse-hand Swords - swords held in reverse, with the blade facing down. They allow for long dodges and jumps in different directions.
3. Great Katanas - two-handed katanas with increased range. Faster than curved greatswords, but stagger slower.
4. Thrusting Shields - shields with spikes attached. They allow you to quickly transition from defense to offense.
5. Throwing Weapons - Throwing weapons, e.g. daggers and axes. The player retrieves the weapon immediately after throwing it, allowing for continuous ranged combat.
6. Perfume Bottles - bottles of perfume, attacking with various vapors. The vapors have a very short range but also have varying effects depending on the specific weapon.
7. Beast Claws - animal claws attached to the hands. They have extremely acrobatic move sets, allowing the player to almost glide across the ground and through the air.
8. Hand-to-hand - gloves that allow you to fight without weapons. They give you access to spectacular punches, kicks and pirouettes.

Beast Claw

Dragon-Hunter's Great Katana

Defeat Ancient-Dragon Man in the Dragon's Pit dungeon.

Firespark Perfume Bottle

In a chest in the eastern part of the camp.

Milady

Considered one of the best weapons in the game. Look for it at the very top of the Castle Ensis tower. The weapon is in the chest.

Great Katana

The weapon can be found next to the sleeping Ghostflame Dragon boss. You don't have to defeat the dragon to get it.

Backhand Blade

Reach the large sarcophagus guarded by enemies.

Star-Lined Sword

Defeat the Demi-Human Queen Marigga boss.

Dancing Blade of Ranah

Defeat Dancer of Ranah and she will drop a curved weapon.

Greatsword of Solitude

Received for defeating Blackgaol Knight in Western Nameless Mausoleum. For a breakdown of the fight, visit a dedicated page of our guide.

Pata

Next to the Church of Benediction on the cliff.

Bone Bow

Examine the corpse inside the tower.

Horned Warrior's Sword

You have a chance to obtain this weapon from enemies with a horned helmet, e.g. in the Belurat sewers. This chance increases with the level of Mysticism.

Wolf Crest Shield

There are stairs to the west of the Moonrithyll, Knight in Castle Ensis. Exit the building through it - you will find a weapon there.

Anvil Hammer

In the Ruined Forge Lava Intake, at the very end of the location, you will find a lever. Pull it so that a pipe drops onto the lava lake and you can walk on it. Go to the very top - there you will find weapons.

Repeating Crossbow

The crossbow is on a corpse, on the dragon battlefield south of the Shadow Keep.

Smithscript Spear

Examine the corpse in the dungeon, the entrance to which is to the west.

Smithscript Cirque

Reach the room with 2 trolls in the dungeon (the entrance is in the southwest). You will find the item near the corpse.

Smithscript Axe

This item can be found on a corpse while exploring the dungeon beneath the Shadow Keep.

Smithscript Greathammer

This item can be found on a corpse while exploring the dungeon beneath the Shadow Keep.

Smithscript Dagger

Go to the Ruined Forge Lava Intake - the entrance is to the north.

The weapon is on a corpse in a large room near the lava pool.

Rakshasa's Great Katana

Defeat Rakshasa in Eastern Nameless Mausoleum.

Devonia's Hammer

Defeat the Crucible Knight located north east of the place of grace Ancient Ruins of Rauh.

Spirit Sword

The entrance to the canyon is located in the western part of the Cerulean Coast. Examine the corpse to find a curved weapon.

Death Knight's Longshaft Axe

Defeat Death Knight mini-boss at the end of Scorpion River Catacombs dungeon.

Death Knight's Twin Axes

Received for defeating Death Knight mini-boss in Fog Rift dungeon.

Dryleaf Arts and Dane's Footwork

For this weapon, you need to defeat Dryleaf Dane - the fight can be initiated by performing May the Best Win gesture in front of him. To unlock this gesture, you need to find it at the Highroad Cross site of grace.

Igon's Greatbow

You can find Igon's Greatbow in two places:

1. You can defeat Igon in the location shown in the screenshot above, but if you go through with the fight, he won't appear to assist you during the Bayle the Dread fight.

1. After the fight with Bayle the Dread, Igon will abandon all his equipment.

Flowerstone Gavel

You will find him in front of the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion after defeating the boss Bayle the Dread.

Spirit Glaive

At the north-eastern end of the Cerulean Coast region, there is a small location called Charo's Hidden Grave - we show how to reach it on a dedicated page of our guide. The weapon will be next to a corpse.

Chilling Perfume Bottle

The entrance to Lamenter's Gaol, the dungeon where the weapon is found, is located in the eastern part of Charo's Hidden Grave location. Approach the corpse to find the bottle.

Lamenting Visage

The weapon is hidden on the lower level of Lamenter's Gaol, behind a false wall that you need to destroy. Open the gate and examine one of the corpses to find it.

Bonny Butchering Knife

Look for this weapon in the central part of Bonny Village - check the corpse behind the crates.

Tooth Whip

Start at the Bonny Village site of grace, then continue east through the suspension bridge. You will find the weapon next to the body in the burnt hat.

Rabbath's Cannon

The weapon can be found in a large chest at the very top of the tower. Activate Spiritspring in the area to catapult yourself to the higher levels of the tower.

Fire Knight set

In the Shadow Keep location, you'll encounter Fire Knights enemies characteristic for their red coats. They can drop various melee weapons, such as Greatsword or Shortsword.

Carian Thrusting Shield

This shield is found in a warehouse guarded by a Fire Knight.

Carian Sorcery Sword

To access the walls where the chest with the weapon is found, you need to go through Scadu Altus region in the north. Look for an area next to the river where you can jump down. Open the chest to find the sword.

Golden Lion Shield

You'll receive this weapon after completing the quest for Freyja by delivering the letter.

Freyja's Greatsword

This weapon can be collected from Freyja's body at any moment during Leda's tasks.

Dryleaf Seal

Start at the Recluses river site of grace in the bottom part of Scadu Altus region. Head south and then turn east. The weapon will be on one of the shelves.

Barbed Staff-Spear

Defeat the boss - Jori, Elder Inquisitor - guarding the entrance to Abyssal Woods. The description of the fight with her can be found in our guide.

Frenzyflame Perfume Bottle

Look for this weapon near Church Ruins site of grace which is in the northeastern part of Abyssal Woods.

Horned Warrior's Greatsword

While crossing the southern part of Enir-Ilim, defeat the elite opponent Wind-Aspected Horned Warrior.

Bloodfiend's Arm

Defeat a group of enemies in a small cave in Ancient Ruins of Rauh.

Lizard Greatsword

The weapon is dropped from any opponent encountered in Fog Rift Catacombs.

Spread Crossbow

Check the corpses near the battle site to find the weapon.

Swift Spear

Check the corpse found next to the road near the entrance to Castle Ensis.

Moonrithyll's Knight Sword

Defeat Moonrithyll, Carian Knight in Castle Ensis.

Deadly Poison Perfume Bottle

Can be bought from a merchant found next to the Pillar Path Cross site of grace.

Dueling Shield

Reach the third floor of the warehouse and jump over the railing to reach a corpse next to which the shield is found.

Stone-Sheathed Sword and Sword of Light

The two weapons are found in separate places. Reaching the one of the altars for the first time will yield one of the weapons, while to obtain the second one, you need to visit the corresponding other altar.

1. One of the altars is found in the upper part of Ancient Ruins of Rauh (cross the invisible bridge).

1. The second one is in the interior area of Unte Ruins - start by activating the Furnace Golem and dropping Hefty Furnace Pot on him.

Queelign's Greatsword

Talk to Fire Knight Queelign in the locked Prayer Room - choose the "Use Iris of Occultation" option, and the NPC will drop the weapon.

To obtain the Prayer Room Key, you need to defeat the opponent in Church of the Crusade.

Euporia

This weapon is available after completing the long descent from the Enir-Ilim region - reach the place marked as Descent to Belurat #1 and "Descent to Belurat #2 in the image above. Both these locations are found in the northern parts of the map.

Then proceed to the elevator (Belurat #4) in the east. Head west and open the large gate to find a corpse on which the weapon is found.

Serpent Crest Shield

To get access to this shield, you first need to complete the puzzle involving the Incursion painting. The painting can be found in Artist's Shack in Gravesite Plain (location close to the starting point of the DLC). You can examine the carried painting and the next step will be to determine the location the painting portrays. As you stand in the area marked on the map, look to the south and to the bridge and the ruins, and a spirit should appear leaving the shield.

Spiraltree Seal

The shield is obtained after completing The Sacred Tower painting puzzle. To find the painting, reach a small cave in the eastern part of Gravesite Plain.

With the painting, go to the northern part of the region and activate the found Spiritspring to reach the upper area with Northern Nameless Mausoleum. With the Enir-Ilim and two rocks in front of you, turn west. The spirit will only appear if you've defeated Divine Beast Dancing Lion earlier (for the description of the encounter, visit the dedicated page of our guide) and unlocked access to Enir-Ilim.

Claws of Night

Defeat the Swordhand of Night Anna in the Cathedral of Manus Metyr location.

Sword of Night

Talk to Swordhand of Night Jolan NPC and give her the Iris of Occultation (can be obtained from one of the enemies in Shadow Keep). In return, you'll receive the weapon.

Maternal Staff

This weapon is dropped by Ymir - you can fight him in the Cathedral of Manus Metyr after defeating Metyr Mother of Fingers (the arena for the encounter is in the northern part of the area) and Swordhand of Night Jolan (an NPC appearing in the Cathedral).

Madding Hand

Defeat the enemy of the same name in the eastern part of Abyssal Woods. You will obtain this melee weapon.

Ansbach's Longbow

The longbow is obtained for completing Sir Ansbach questline or by defeating him in Shadow Keep.

Falx

Received for defeating Hornsent at any point during Leda's questline.

Leda's Sword

Received for defeating Needle Knight Leda in Enir-Ilim.

Nanaya's Torch

Travel to Midra's Manse ruins in the south-western part of Abyssal Woods - for a detailed explanation on how to get there, visit our guide.

The best way is to start at Midra's Library site of grace and explore the upper level (this will require many jumps). The weapon is in the room with the corpses.

Verdigris Greatshield

You will receive this shield after the death of NPC Moore - this may happen during his quest or he may attack you as a mini-boss (in this location or one of the others with a large worm).

Obsidian Lamina

You need to complete Sir Ansbach questline so he joins you as an ally during the final fight of the questline. Collect the weapon from his body afterwards.

Thiollier's Hidden Needle

Complete Thiollier's quests in Garden of Deep Purple - the weapon is taken from this NPC's body after the concluding fight of the questline.

Rellana's Twinblade

Defeat Rellana, Twin Moon Knight - for a breakdown of the encounter, visit a dedicated page of our guide.

Shadow Sunflower Blossom

Defeat the Scadutree Avatar boss - we wrote about how to defeat him in our guide.

Greatsword of Damnation

You will receive this weapon after defeating the boss Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame. In our guide you will find a page with tips on how to defeat him.

Spear of the Impaler

You will obtain this weapon by defeating Messmer the Impaler boss - we have described the fight with him on a separate page of the guide.

Greatsword of Radahn

Defeat the final boss in Enir-Ilim. You can exchange the Remembrance for 1 out of 2 swords.
